Below are printable topographical maps of the Alfred area used by permission of Maps a la carte, Inc. at TopoZone.com Topographical maps show elevations and contours of the land and are very beneficial for use when hiking and navigating a specific area. Using topographical maps we can determine: how steep a hillside is by checking the distance between the elevation lines on the map (the closer the lines - the steeper the grade) how a creek or stream flows through a draw from the hilltop down (by recognizing a "V" shape in the elevation lines pointing uphill) By knowing the terrain before we actually visit the land we can make our hiking, nature walks and hunting trips more enjoyable.
